Crash Reports
To receive a crash report, Texas law requires that you provide at least two of the following pieces of information:
- Date of the accident
- The location / address of the accident
- The name of a driver involved
Offense Reports
Citizens can request a copy of an offense report by contacting the department's Records Division (link) at 361-777-4820 or by visiting the Police Department at 1902 Billy G. Webb Drive. Generally, citizens are entitled to copies of reports in which they are the victim of crime. Reports may not be made available in certain circumstances, such as when the report is not complete or when a case is still under investigation.
The department complies with all requirements of the Texas Open Records Act (TORA).
Open Records Request
We may be able to provide you with other types of information and statistics. Certain types of information are available from the Portland Police Department under the Texas Open Records Act. Open records requests must be submitted in writing. Requests are not accepted by telephone.
